Like other car alarms, the Toyota factory alarms are used to deter thieves from stealing the vehicle. However, if you lose your key fob, find the alarm too sensitive or want to replace it with an after-market alarm, you need to disconnect Toyota's factory alarm.
It's not difficult to do. Find the switch used to disable or reset the alarm. The alarm in Toyota vehicles has a box beneath the dashboard, near the hood release, that has a toggle on it. Once you find the toggle, put your key in the ignition and start the car. Override the alarm. With the car started, flip the toggle three times.
You should hear the alarm chirp once, indicating the alarm is disabled. Find the alarm fuse and remove it. Toyota vehicles have two fuse boxes. One fuse box is under the driver's side dash and the other one is next to the battery, but the alarm fuse is typically in the fuse box under the dashboard. If the fuses aren't labelled, refer to the diagram on the fuse box cover to find the right one.
Then, use a fuse puller to remove the fuse without damaging the fuses around it. Emily Retherford has been a full-time writer since She specializes in travel, parenting, fashion and beauty with work appearing on various online publications.

Although car alarms are good to have as a security feature, they sometimes can be obtrusive during some minor electrical repairs because they can be accidentally triggered, giving you quite the scare.
Your Camry does have a kill switch, however, that temporarily will disable your alarm while you make repairs. Locate the kill switch, actually a toggle switch, on your Camry. It is located on the left-hand side of the steering wheel column beneath the dashboard. It will be the only switch on that side beneath the dashboard. Listen for an audible beep that will let you know the alarm has been disabled. Further even in disarm mode, when I push the button on my new remote the factory horn beep occurs and the indicator lights flash according to the factory combination. This is combined with my new alarm beeping and indicator flashing which is almost opposite to the factory one. So its a bit of a confusing mess.
From what ive read online there is something called the CIR or Computer Integration relay that is part of the issue. Question : How do I totally disable the factory Toyota immobiliser, alarm and horn? On these the immobiliser is all through the remote isn't it, remotes coded into the car from the contacts in the glove box? Operate the horn within 5 seconds of the indicator illuminating. Do not modify, remove or disassemble the engine immobiliser system. If any unauthorised changes or modifications are made, the proper operation of the system cannot be guaranteed.
If you want to disable immobilisers on strangers' cars, then probably best to ask your local automotive Rebirther for tips, but please don't try on my car! The factory system is only a immobiliser - i now have a alarm, including boot and bonnet protection and a Glass break sensor in case someone smashes the windows. Much increased functionality over what I have now, Further the remote can chirp silently or with noise - the new remote not the old Toyota remotes.
Battery backup it also has. So i have increased security plus aethesitcally the horn chirp of the factory toyota system is horrible vs the sound of the new alarm cosmetic point only i know.Enabling a Toyota Security System on Base Model Cars

What might be the cause and what should I do?
Luckily I am always available and near the parking but in case it happens at night it might cause inconvenience. Ed answered 4 months ago. That's one problem with older cars. You have to find an electrical connection that's absorbing humidity and fix it. Michuck answered 3 weeks ago. A common problem with Camrys and the alarm is the hood sensor.
The sensor is just a switch that is in the closed position when the hood is shut. When it becomes dirty or corroded it cannot make the connection and then cannot close the circuit. Or in this case barely closes the circuit and with temp and humidity changes loses the connection while just sitting there. It is located in the hood latch. I cut the wires to the switch and soldered them together creating a permanently closed circuit.
I have not had an issue since.
